In the spring, over 1000 cherry trees boast cherry blossoms in Maizuru Park.
It is said that the original domain lord of Fukuoka Domain, Kuroda Kanbei named this land where he built the castle as “Fukuoka” taking his ancestors’ land of Bizen-Fukuoka (Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture).
The thought of Kanbei who wished for the prosperity of Fukuoka and a 400-year-old history of Fukuoka Castle will be expressed through lighting up the castle walls and full-bloomed cherry blossoms in this lovely spring season.
